現在春日店時計コーナーには珍しくタンクフランセーズが色々と揃っておりますので（※価格は1枚目の黒文字盤の価格です）今日は「タンク」について書きたいと思います

カルティエには沢山の時計のデザインがありますよね・・

例えば「サントス」のシリーズですこれはパイロットが操縦桿を握ったまま時間を確認できるように腕に着けるためにデザインされたもので腕時計として初めて量産された物と言われています。

その他ベニュワールやラドーニャ、パシャなどこれまで数多くの腕時計をデザインしてきました、その中でも高い人気を誇るのが「タンク」シリーズですタンクにも種類がありますフランセーズだけでなくアメリカ、ソロ、ルイ・カルティエ、アングレーズ、マスト・・・多すぎやしませんか！？

まあそれだけ人気があるのがカルティエの「タンク」です

ここで質問「タンク」の意味をご存じでしょうか？

私はしっていました「タンク」は「戦車」を上から見た姿をモチーフして考えられたデザインだと言われています、しかしなぜ戦車をモチーフにしたのでしょうか？

その理由は「パリの解放を記念して」といろいろなサイトで書かれています

しかしそうするとつじつまが合いません、パリの解放は第2次世界大戦でドイツ軍から連合軍が解放した1944年を指すと思われますがタンクが商品化されたのは1919年です20年以上も前に発売されているのでパリの解放を記念してデザインされた訳ではなさそうです

1919年と言うと第1次世界大戦が1918年フランスの列車内で休戦協定が結ばれた翌年です第一次世界大戦と言えば「戦車」が初めて戦場で活躍した戦争としても知られていますのでおそらくその戦車からデザインされたのではないでしょうか？

一つの時計からこんな学びまであるなんて時計はとても奥深くて面白いですね
