Conditions for tax free purchase

Must be a foreign tourist with passport.
Foreigners working in Japan or those who have resided in Japan for over 6 months do not qualify as non-residents.
Applicable to general goods worth over 10,000 yen (before-tax).

About the Tax-free Program

You can purchase any item in shops free of consumption tax under certain conditions.
You are eligible for tax-free shopping if you are a visitor with a temporarily stay status.
For tax-free shopping, you must present your passport. The shop will affix a purchase proof document to your passport which will be collected by Customs at the time of departure.

Caution : Please do not remove or misplace the purchase proof document.

Tax-free items

The sale of consumable goods is not tax free in the tax free shop.

Tax-free items	Ex.:Home appliances, bags, shoes, watches, accessories, clothing, artifacts.
Applicable amount	Total spending of over 10,000 JPY excluding tax.
Caution	The shop will take a copy of your passport for spending of over 1,000,000 JPY.

You must take the tax-free goods out of Japan.
Goods purchased for business or commercial purposes are not eligible for the tax-free program.
Tax-free procedures will be processed at the shop where you purchase the goods and cannot be processed together with goods purchased in other shops.
Tax-free procedures will be processed on the day you purchase the goods. Completing the tax-free procedure for goods purchased on a different day is not possible.
We can do tax free sale to persons having passport only, and not to any other persons.

About the Tax-free Procedure

You cannot shop tax-free if…

there is no stamp indicating the day of arrival.
you work in Japan.
your stay has exceeded 6 months.
your spending is not within the range of the applicable amount.
We cannot sale the goods tax free on duplicates of documents like copies.

(Passport, landing permission for crew members, permissionfor emergency landing）We cannot sale the goods tax free on duplicates of documents like copies.

Yes: Go to next step.

I do not have it: Please come again with your passport.

Ok, you are eligible for tax-free shopping. Now, let’s start the procedure.
